Unending Galaxy 1.1.0.1 Released !

Nilith Warships

magnateUnending Galaxy has been updated to v1.1.0.1.

This new version should fix the various issues encountered with our 1.1 release. The most important one being that the freeze that could occur when changing sector shouldn’t happen anymore. However, if it’s still a thing for you, just disable the “procedural sky” in your graphical settings, you’ll hardly see a difference and it will also improve sector transitions.

This version also add something that has been requested a lot. You can edit settings for multiple ships simultaneously now. To do so, simply select multiple ships and open the Ship Setup menu as usual. Not all options are available, but you can already set the combat and automation settings.

Note that both the basic and deluxe have been updated to 1.101. Both are available on the download page. The full changelog is available below.

Unending Galaxy 1.1 Released !

Snap1Unending Galaxy 1.1 has just been released.

The main features of this new release are the new free camera (allows for RTS style controls) and the ability to build and replace colonies. It also improves the user interface and gameplay with new settings, improved menus and many other smaller changes. Performances have been increased in a noticeable way too with a more constant frame-rate during very long games and quicker game loading and saving operations. Finally this version features around 40 bug fixes. For a complete changelog, please refer to our forums.

As usual, you can buy the latest version from the download section. If you already bought the game, the deluxe edition should be available in your favorite store shortly.

Note that the basic freeware edition has not been updated yet. It should be available in a few days. It will also be the last time the basic edition gets an update.

Incoming Release : Unending Galaxy 1.1

rtitle02Hey there !

Just a quick message to let you know that Unending Galaxy 1.1 should be available this weekend. As usual, it will be available on itch.io and Indie Game Stand simultaneously. The game will be released on Steam once the possible issues with 1.1 have been ironed out and that I am done integrating Steam’s features into the game. I would rather avoid botching the Steam launch, so I will take all the time I need to have a proper, solid build.

Note that the basic version will not benefit from the new features like the colony management or the option to set combat behaviors for your ships. It will however benefit from the numerous bug fixes.

[devlog] Combat Settings and Drones

asterianexplorerHey !

This devlog will mostly focus on a few features that are only partially implemented as it is. I usually try to focus on things that are already ready (or nearly), but I am not sure that telling you about the font switching in a few hundreds of user-interface elements would be very enjoyable for any of us. I will only say one thing on that matter, when making a menu heavy game, settle for a font before designing your menus, especially if it’s differently sized than the previous one.

Anyway, let’s get to what I have in store 🙂 Read More …

[devlog] The Devil is in the Details

title08Hey there !

In a similar fashion to the previous devlog, the last two weeks were mostly spent polishing the game. While it sure isn’t as fun as adding whole new features, it still something that needed to be done at some point. Of course that won’t make for the most exciting devlog in the world, but there are still a couple of improvements that you will like to know about, so I’ll stick to the important bits and leave the rest for the changelog on the forum.

Enjoy ! 🙂 Read More …

[devlog] Misc Improvements

Snap1612Hi there !

Thank you for your kind words regarding my injuries, I am more or less back to coding. Still condemned to eat mostly liquid food for a while. As a result, I am making a list of all the different food stuff I am going to eat when I am done :).

Anyway, this week hasn’t been focused in anything in particular. I addressed the bugs that have been reported so far, improved things left and right in the user interface, changed a few rules, finished work on the camera system, implemented a few ideas from the community, and so on. Let’s call it a general maintenance week. It’s going to be slightly difficult to make a coherent post out of all that, but let’s try nonetheless.

Enjoy ! 🙂

[devlog] Colony Management

Snap1599-2Hey there !

So, that happened …  gone for weeks. Well, after the planned (but rainy) vacations in July, I slowly got back to work. And when I was about to publish the following article, my power supply decided to die (literally just before hitting “publish”). Oh well, it was old and dusty, it was bound to happen sooner or later. So, I ordered another one online and got it a couple days later. The story should have ended there, but nope. Long story short, the day I received the new power supply, I got mugged, beaten and ended up at the hospital with multiple fractures and contusions. Fun ! The cherry on the top of an already very passable summer. I am just out of the hospital now, but I am still in bad shape. Hey, at least, the new power supply works fine.

But there’s a good news ! We’ve just been accepted on Steam ! Thanks a lot to everyone who voted for the game, you rock ! It’s going to take a few weeks to do all the paperwork and effectively putting the game in store. Given that I am in no condition to do it right now anyway, I will likely align that with the 1.1 release which has been delayed from September to late October due to all the horrors listed above.

Anyway, let’s get back to the game itself with one major new feature, colony management.
